Five Coffee Houses You Need to Try in St. Louis | Our Ideal Date Night

Wednesday, September 8, 2021

One question we always ask couples during our first phone call is: "What is your ideal date?"

We love hearing all of the responses, from trying dinner at a new restaurant followed by a movie, or visiting a coffee shop with a good book to just enjoy each other's company, or even trying a new recipe together then watching a movie at home, there's so many fun ideas we hear!

If you've mentioned anything about coffee, I'm sure we've talked about how J and I love going to visit coffee shops for our ideal date... typically followed by some good food and maybe a little antique shopping.

Here's a list of our five favorite places to stop for coffee in St. Louis:

1. Sump

3700 S Jefferson Ave, St. Louis, MO 63118

My all time favorite latte ever! One of their specialties was a bourbon caramel latte and I don't even know how to put words together to tell you how amazing it was. If you're more into iced coffees, try an iced dark chocolate latte! After enjoying our coffee, we like to drive over to Cherokee Antique Row and walk around.

2. Maypop

803 Marshall Ave, Webster Groves, MO 63119

If plants, green houses, succulents, old houses, and good coffee are your aesthetic, Maypop is the perfect place! It's cozy indoor atmosphere and lush greenhouse are the perfect place to read a good book or get some work done and sip one of their lattes. They make all their syrups in house, too! We ordered the vanilla latte and hazelnut latte and they were so good!

3. Fiddlehead Fern Cafe

4066 Russell Blvd, St. Louis, MO 63110

Fresh, seasonal, and delicious. If you value places that serve foods sourced from local farmers or somewhere that has live music, then you need to make a stop at Fiddlehead Fern Cafe near the Botanical Gardens. I went a little more adventurous and ordered a matcha latte from here and I was pleasantly surprised. We loved listening to the live music and fresh baked goods before visiting the Botanical Gardens.

4. Blueprint

6225 Delmar Blvd, St. Louis, MO 63130

This one actually took us two tries before we enjoyed this place- I don't think the coffee was dialed all the way in when we tried it the first time, even though we really enjoy pulling their beans at home for espresso. They have a few locations, but we like the one on Delmar best when doing a day date because we can walk around The Loop with coffee in hand.

5. C. Oliver Coffee + Flower Bar

7401 Hazel Ave, Maplewood, MO 63143

The cutest little shop in Maplewood that was made for cute Instagram photos. To keep with the aesthetic, I tried the powder pink mocha and really liked it!
