Five Books Every Newlywed Couple Should Read
Most people know that my husband & I love marriage, not just our our own, but the marriages in our community and especially those of our clients. While I love capturing weddings, I place a special value on the futures of each Bride & Groom. Something that may surprise you is that we are certified Twogether in Texas premarital counselors and nationally certified family mentors.  We encourage every couple to attend at least 6 weeks of premarital counseling through your local church or a premarital counselor. To say the least, we believe in being proactive in your marriage!

We are frequently asked what our favorite books about marriage are, so we've compiled a list of our top five favorite books we recommend engaged couples to read before they say, “I do”.

1 .Marriage on the Rock by Jimmy Evans

Why we love it…
There’s no secret Jimmy and Karen Evans over at Marriage Today are our favorites. We could fill this list full of our favorite books they have written, but we’ll give you a variety of authors. This book is an inclusive book! Jimmy’s writing is personable and based on the Word. He shares advice about everything from communication to in-laws to sex. If we had to pick just one book, this would be the one. Order it here.

3. Sheet Music by Dr. Kevin Leaman

Why we love it…
We’ve heard lots of stories about virgin Brides feeling “dirty” after sex, or newly weds feeling like their first time was less than perfect and wondering what they did wrong. We’ve even heard stories of couples married for years that feel like their sex life isn’t as satisfying as before and couples want to know why. Well, Dr. Leaman uncovers the secrets of sexual intimacy in marriage in his book, Sheet Music. Order it here

4. The Complete Guide to Money by Dave Ramsey

Why we love it…
They say the top three things couples fight about are sex, money, and family, so of course we’re going to recommend this book! If you don’t know our personal story, we paid off over twenty six thousand dollars of debt last year using his principles! No, we’re not rolling in the dough or financial gurus, we just used his debt snowball method and are working on baby steps. If you don’t have a church near you teaching Financial Peace University, get this book! It will absolutely help you no matter how long you have been married! Order it here.  Search for a class near you here

5. Love & Respect by Dr. Emerson Eggrichs

Why we love it...
This book has a simple message found in scripture that truly works. Once you understand his simple message, it revolutionizes your relationship. We will but this disclaimer on this one that we do not agree with his stance on domestic violence nor staying in an abusive relationship. Order it here

Why we love it?
Spiritual intimacy is the deepest level of intimacy. As newlyweds we struggled with the awkwardness of praying together. These books coached us on how to pray for each other and the importance of praying together. Order the husband's copy here. And the wife's copy here

PS. If you continue praying together, it WILL get less awkward.
